Stage 1 Remapping

Stage 1 is the most common remap: a software-only change for a vehicle with standard hardware. No new parts, no bolt-ons — just a better-suited calibration.

What "Stage 1" means

Tuners use stages to describe how far a vehicle has been modified. Stage 1 assumes the engine, intake, exhaust and turbo are as they left the factory. The calibration is written to work safely with that standard hardware, so it is the natural first step for most daily drivers.

Later stages generally involve hardware changes such as intake or exhaust upgrades, with a calibration to match. Stage 1 doesn't require any of that.

Is Stage 1 right for my vehicle?

Stage 1 tends to suit turbocharged cars and vans in good condition, driven on the road every day. It is less likely to be worthwhile on an engine with little factory headroom, or on a vehicle with warning lights, boost leaks, a worn clutch or overdue servicing — those need sorting first.

If you're unsure, send your registration and a few details and you'll get a straight answer on whether it's worth doing.

What you can expect

The difference most drivers notice is a stronger, more consistent pull through the rev range and a more responsive throttle. The size of the change depends on the engine: some vehicles respond strongly, some modestly. Once the vehicle lookup is live you'll be able to see figures for your specific model before you book.

Looking after a remapped vehicle

Keep up with servicing and use the correct fuel grade. A clutch that is already near the end of its life may show it sooner under extra torque. As with any remap, let your insurer know.

Questions about stage 1 remapping

Do I need any new parts for Stage 1?

No. Stage 1 is designed for standard hardware. The only requirement is that the vehicle is healthy and properly maintained.

Can I go further later?

Yes. If you later fit hardware upgrades the calibration can be revisited to suit them.
